JSS @ Bay Area Rock Festival - June 27th

Bay Area Rock Promotions is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Bay Area Rock Festival at the Independent in San Francisco on June 27th and 28th 2008. Liquid Tension Experiment and Jeff Scott Soto will headline the premier west coast festival for progressive and melodic music.

In 1998 and 1999, Liquid Tension Experiment released two instrumental albums that set the prog world on fire. The project featured Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy and John Petrucci , virtuoso keyboardist Jordan Rudess and bass legend Tony Levin. After the success of the two albums and the project's undeniable chemistry, Rudess was asked to join Dream Theater full-time and the project was put on the shelf for an indefinite hiatus until now! The quartet has reunited to revisit the magical music they created 10 years ago and tap back into their chemistry for a whole new musical experiment. They are closing out their limited tour on Saturday night as the headliner of the festival.

Jeff Scott Soto headlines the first night of the festival, bringing his talented mix of rock, metal and funk back to San Francisco after recently fronting Journey. Joining him onstage for a special guest appearance will be Dave Meniketti and Phil Kennemore from Y&T, as well as Eric Martin.

Returning to the festival for a 2nd year are Bay Area bands Enchant and Zero Hour. Zero Hour is debuting their new album "The Dark Deceiver" available on Sensory Records. Making their North American debut Saturday night is Netherlands prog metal sensation Sun Caged. The Rocket
Scientists with special guest Lana Lane will be appearing on Friday night. Additional bands will be announced at a later date.

OK ... no pictures yet, haven't had a chance to go through them. Gonna have to get a fatsre lens ... he won't stand still long enough to get a picture ... especially if you aren't using a flash! (at the request of the mgnt of the club)

I think he came on around 11:15pm ... so past my bed time now! Hahaha
Oh put worth the wait. I wished I could give you a set list ... but, who has time to write it down when you are rockin' at the feet of a sweaty Rock God !

No Testify ... so I read at MR, becaus they haven't had a chance to reherse it really.
Heard : Stand Up, 21st Centry, Drowning, Eyes of Love, the usual funky mix at the end (this is always great) ... ummm ... OMG I can't remember ! Hahaha
Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks on the set list.

The sound was shitty ... Jeff kept trying to get them to turn up his mic. Howie's amps were full on ... I still have a screaming ring in my right ear !! Jeff seemed frustraited with the sound ... but threw his arms up and just went with it! The fans filled in the vocals when you couldn't hear Jeff !

The guys were having a great time ... foolin' around, laughing, even a little jab at Journey ! {{ tee hee }} Even as a Journey fan, I found it funny and well done.

Bonus with Eric Martin (who still looks 19 !) (song ?? ) and then Meniketti and Kennemore from Y & T ! They played Mean Streak and ... crap the memory thing again ! I wanted to hear Summertime Girls (love hearing Jeff do this) but nope ... just the 2 tunes.

Brought 4 people with me who havn't seen him before. 3 of which have never heard him ... all new converts ! Asking when the next show is and why I haven't shared his music before ! ( Guess they don't remember hearing it in my car!)

I know Jeff came our afterwards ... but I had tired aprty poopers with me ... so I didn't get to stay and see him. {{ sigh }}

I will try to get some pictures here soon. Don't even know what, if anything, came out.

At least you get the idea ...

Sorry, I haven't been on in awhile. I was in S.F. on the 27th and L.A. on the 28th. My pics from S.F. were really dark, but I will post a few of them to give you a little taste. I will agree that the sound sucked, but JSS was in the room so who cares? LOL. You didn't miss alot by not staying afterwards. Jeff was very straight forward about the fact that he was totally exhausted. You could see it on his face so the few people that were hanging out just said hello and left. I'm sorry I missed those of you I know that were there. I was trying desperately to hook up with everybody I've met on MySpace.

If somebody can give me a couple of hints on how to upload a photo here I will be happy to share what I have.

Kim, first you have to have your images hosted at a site like Photobucket. Then it provides you with different links. There one that says "forum link" or maybe even "message board links" but it will be the one with the images tags around it like this [img] then you just copy and paste that link here. It's easy once you do it. I can't wait to see your photos.
