Journey on Billboard's list

Hey everyone!

Journey is #3 on Billboard's list of the top 200 "guilty pleasures" bands people listen to! How can it be your "guilty pleasure"? This band has a legacy that spans 30years?!! I KNOW it is not guilt that gets the fans to their shows......is his name JSS??!!!

I think its because Journey gained a reputation in the late 70's early 80's as 'corporate rock', due to the corporate sponsorship they had for their tours etc. This was in the heyday of punk etc and it was just not cool to like bands like Journey then. Many people still did love their music but just wouldn't admit to it.

Unfortunately, for those that haven't actually heard the band lately, that reputation still exists.

Guilty pleasure. That’s a good one.

The one thing that made Journey famous in the 80’s is some of the very same things that a lot of band followed them on. Whether it was using corporate sponsors or marketing a video game Herbie did what he did best and made them lots of money. Call it what you want but it got Journey to play all over the world. They played to sold out stadiums, sell millions of albums and so on. It made a difference too. Journey is the first band to ever use the large video screen in concert. Not just at a venue that had them as part of the stage set-up but screens that they took on the road and became a part of the set.
Some critics didn’t like that. However no one can deny the talent that has been part of this band or still is. Each drummer, keyboard player, or guitar player were top notch. Weather it was Steve Perry, Steve Augeri, or JSS at the lead mike the vocals were and still are the best in the business.
So I guess if you want to call Journey a guilty pleasure then so be it. If you like it who cares what you call it.

That's one of the reasons I definitely had to see Journey for the second time too
I have been a long time fan of Journey,they are my fathers favourite band and I have been brought up on there music!
I'll be honest I was one of the people that thought nobody could replace Steve Perry,that man has one amazing set of vocal chord!!
When Steve Augeri joined I thought yes he can sing but He's no Perry
He did a good job for Journey but with Augeri (although I still loved the music with him) I always thought Journey lacked some thing!.
Then came JSS and everything seem to fall back into place for me!
Journey don't just need an amazing singer to match their music, they need somebody to take lead and captivate an audience.
And JSS has just the right stage presence,vocal ability and as an all round entertainer, he just perfect to me!!
I love Journey and if this is some kind of guilt or a sin then send me to hell ,cos I aint gunna stop Belivin' !!!!!!

I agree, Jeff is perfect for Journey, he has everything they were missing. I've loved Journey for years, my Mom has been a big fan over the years so I grew up listening to them too. I didn't listen to Journey when Steve Augeri was in the band, I've always like Perry. I'm so glad Journey opened for Def Leppard last summer. I went the first time for Def Leppard, but, when Jeff came out and started singing, my mouth dropped open, I was in complete awe of him. So, the 2nd show, I was just as excited about seeing Journey as I was Lep. Jeff knows how to work the audience. I couldn't talk for several days after my last concert from screaming so loud for Jeff My best friend still teases me about the night I discovered JSS, she said it was a beautiful thing!

I will never stop believin' in Jeff

Awww that is lovely!, I was the same the first time I saw JSS too. I could not take me eyes off him!
The first time I saw him was with the JSS band . My dad had told me about him on how he just captivates an audience and that he was brilliant to see live! but until you experience it yourself you don't actually appreciate how good JSS really is!
Believe me I'll never stop Believin' in JSS!!

He is an amazing performer, I've never seen anyone like him. He's one of a kind and that's a great thing You feel his energy and you give him even more right back. I couldn't sit still the whole time he was on stage. I will definately miss him at future Def Leppard concerts I love Def Leppard but I just know it will feel like something is missing when I don't get to see Jeff perform too!

I think Journey and Def Leppard should go on tour together PERMANANTLY, that is the perfect tour for me I love Def Leppard and I love Jeff/Journey. I've made my best friend promise me that when Journey comes close to us that she'll go w/ me I just odered my Def Leppard tix this morning for the July 6th show in Indy/Noblesville, got them during the pre sale. I just wish Journey was still on tour w/ them

Although I like Def Leppard I've never seen them live!

I can't wait to see Journey again. I saw them twice last year. Jeff....what can I really say about him that hasn't already been said? He is amazing, impressive, talented, kind, energetic, entertaining, funny...am I forgetting anything?

If you ever get the chance to see Lep, go for it, it's worth it, they are awesome live! Styx is opening for them at the show I'm going to, I wish it was Journey instead
