| Ok - something that I have been plagued with since I was on the plane coming back from my Pompano Beach trip.
I flew on Jetblue which (thank God) had TVs we could watch so I could be distracted from the insane height of the plane. I ended up watching ACCESS entertainment. One of the anchors (I think his name was Billy Bush) was doing a segment on “if Paris Hilton can do it so can I.” He decided to record a song about his daughters.
He gets heavy duty producer David Foster to help him with this task. Now Billy is NOT a singer. But because of technology today, they can “cut and paste” so to speak to make ANYONE a singer and sound good.
That has been bugging the piss out of me since I heard it. With technology you can do things never possible before. While in many respects – it’s GREAT! In other ways, it’s terrible because it seems like music has become an industry of almost like assembly line singers. If you got a hot bod, and a mediocre voice .. WE CAN MAKE YOU SOUND GREAT!
Back in the day – I took vocal lessons from an opera/jazz singer. And I sang all the time. Musicals, back ups in bands, lead singer temporarily for a band called Alchemy (shut-up .. it was the 80’s!!) And you had to actually be able to SING and harmonize back then.. today .. seems so different. |

Thank goodness though for the true musicians that are still out there (Jeff, Def Leppard, L.A. Guns, etc)! They are what music is supposed to be and should be. No more of this manufactured crap! | |
