Journey Boards - Back Talk

Not sure if any of you go over to the Journey boards - I tend to be 'active' to a point over there. Sometimes the stupidity of the post leaves me no other choice but to post.

There is a fair amount of fans PISSED over JSS being named the lead. I expected the anger and emotion. I can completely understand that the fans are mourning the loss of Steve A. And expressing that makes perfect sense to me.

BUT.. and here is where the big ole butttt comes in.. some of the 'venting' is INSANE. His clothes .. give me a freakin' break .. he's too this or too that. Someone said "why are you so tough?" & "he doesn't fit the journey imagine," blahblahblah.. I mean for fcuk sakes, give the man a chance before you send him to the gallows.

I try to remain fair by saying that before making a decision based on emotion - see him perform. If, after that, you STILL don't like him - then at least you have made a decision based on fact.

In all fairness, there are also some really terrific fans that are supporters of JSS too.

That's what I have heard, that some of them are tearing him apart piece by piece. That is why I don't go over there. I understand everyone has an opinion but you can state your opinion w/out being rude and/or mean. I would love to talk Journey w/ some of the great people over there BUT I CANNOT read the horrible things they are saying about Jeff, it makes me so freakin' MAD.

It would be nice if some of the cool people over there would come over here and chat though

I used to post in Back Talk but as time moves on I am finding it difficult to say much of anything anymore over there. Some of the threads have become a bit juvenille and over the top.

Maybe things will get better as time goes by. Until then.. I will lay low and post where I feel comfortable.

I think JSS will be a great fit for Journey.. oh, is it February yet? Bring on those FL shows already.

I feel the same way that's why I don't bother with that place. I was not too happy about Augeri when he became lead, but I never did or ever would say nasty things about him, I'm just not a fan of his, plain & simple. And let's face it, Perry no longer being the lead was just too sad lol.

But not the case with Jeff, I knew he'd be great with Journey when I first heard he'd be taking the lead, I knew he is a Journey/Steve Perry fan, & that he would put his everything into those songs.

I started reading them the other day and was shocked at what people were saying but i couldn't stop reading. We all know that once they give him a chance they will love him like we do. I think he's a perfect fit for the band and I'm looking forward to seeing them again in London.

I visit this place from time to time, but don't post. This bashing, from people who don't know Jeff and have never seen him perform, is completely stupid. And they don't want to hear/read what the JSS fans or Jeff himself are writing on this board. They're completely 'close minded', and with this kind of person, there's nothing to do. Fortunately, all the Journey fans are not like that and appreciate Jeff's talent!

I constantly try to bring a different perspective to those who love Steve A. Again, I understand their sadness but some of the things they are saying are so ludicrous that it gets me crazy. I don't lash out because I think that would defeat the purpose. And I'm not trying to convince them one way or another. I am trying to at least get thru to them that some of the comments are unfounded, mean and silly.
It still frustrates the hell out of me - ignorance!

Ignorance is all around, not just on Journey boards and it's something that the sane amongst us have to live with LOL.

First of all I think that the 'anti-JSS' comments over on BT come from a very small proportion of the fans there and is not representative of the general feeling. I also think that where it is expressed, in most cases it is simply a reaction (perhaps over-reaction) to the disappointment of losing Steve Augeri and the way some people feel it was handled.

Only a few people have seen Jeff with Journey and STILL don't like him in the band, and they are entitled to their opinion, as we are to ours. If we all liked exactly the same stuff all the time, this would be a boring place to live - and we'd never ever be able to get good seats to see the band

As much as I agree with all of you about the BT bashing [and I know you all have heard me rant and rave about it] I also have to agree with Marty.

As much as I haaaate people talking bad about JSS it only ignites the gratitude with me about how I am able to be open-minded and appreciate good music and amazing vocals

Yes, I realize not everyone is going to like Jeff and although I think they must be out of their damn minds, there is a way you can state your feelings and opinion without being mean, hurtful or rude. I'm a firm believer in karma, what comes around goes around. They will get theirs. I gave Jeff a chance when I saw him and look at me now, I've become a huge fan of his. But, then, I also realize not everyone can have the exceptional taste that I do!

Jeff is the man and we all know it! Screw everyone who doesn't agree!

That forum is completely ridiculous and immature. They are always fighting with each other about something. There are countless threads about Jeff not being right for the band. Give it up already! Why continue to flog a dead horse and keep opening new posts about the same thing?

Totally agree with ya Teri.
The funny thing is that a majority of the people that STARTED the posts about how "Jeff isn't right for the band" are NOW the ones protesting and bitching about the newest threads of JSS negativity... ohhhh the hypocritical world we live in...

I'll just stay right here where the JSS talk is all positive and I don't have to worry about hunting down anyone and knocking some sense into them b/c they were bashing the man.

I'm glad to be a part of this board...

I have found that I can't really deal with all the junk on the other 3 forums...

I guess I just like to talk about the positives...

I've been a fan of Jeff's for 20 years and I'm glad he has his chance now to make a real mark in the states. Do I wish it went down differently? Yeah...But it's happened and that's that.
