PANTHER was put together by JEFF SCOTT SOTO during 1984, previous to the singer's stint with YNGWIE MALMSTEEN.
Despite one obscure release on
Half Wet Records, actually comprising 1984 demos recorded when Soto was just 18 years old, the band actually survived a good deal longer than most people believe.
After releasing a self-titled album in 1986, Soto went on to bigger things, first with YNGWIE MALMSTEEN then in the Spring of 1987 with Japanese guitarist KUNI, prior to solo works and terms of duty with TAKARA, TALISMAN, AXEL RUDI PELL and SOUL SIRKUS.
Also under pseudonyms Soto also fronted both SKRÄPP METTLE and KRYST THE CONQUEROR.
PANTHER underwent a number of line-up changes, resurfacing in 1989 with a three track demo. With drummer Scott Taylor the sole remaining member from the group that recorded the album, PANTHER's 1989 incarnation also comprised vocalist David McDonald, guitarists Michael Steven Barrish and X-ITER man Jason Giordano plus bassist Michael F. White. ...
